Anoscopy

Please Read ALL Instructions Carefully

An Anoscopy is an examination of the anus and lower rectum by means of an instrument called an Anoscope. This scope extends into the rectum approximately 5 to 6 inches. This brief procedure is performed in the doctor’s office. No sedation is required. Cleansing of the area is necessary and described below.

Preparation

PLAIN Fleet Enema (ready to use 4 ½ oz) may be obtained over the counter from any pharmacy. They are packaged in a green and white box. One hour before leaving home, on the day of the exam,give yourself one Fleet enema and hold it for as long as possible, up to 20 minutes, before expelling it.

Do not eat or drink anything after taking the enema. You may take medications with sips of water.
