April 2021 Newsletter

Happy April everyone! Expect to see longer days, more sun, and big fluctuations in the weather (after all this is Colorado).

Also, this month, myself and the board of directors will be taking information gathered from various leaders within the organization and working with a health care consultant to review and establish a revised strategic plan. We will review our current Mission, Vision and Values to ensure that these are still relevant to the organization and we will assess where we want to steer GI of the Rockies over the next 3-4 years.

As many of you know, GI of the Rockies was founded by Dr. Joel Montbriand in 1994 with a single location in Boulder. The strong foundation of the practice and vision for serving the GI community through clinical excellence attracted national physician talent (including Drs. Kaye, Chetham, Karowe, Bersentes, & Dolan) to join, which further differentiated and solidified our reputation in Boulder County as the premier GI Practice. This trajectory continued with expansion into Greater Denver and today GI of the Rockies is the 3rd largest GI practice in Colorado.

The goal of any strategic planning session is to take stock in what made your organization successful in the past, assess the unique landscape ahead, and outline the vision and objectives required to enable the organization to continue to thrive into the future. In the complex and rapidly evolving healthcare ecosystem, we must understand where we want to be in the mid-term to ensure we build the resources and systems necessary to keep this practice thriving into the future, to satisfy the needs of our patients, our providers, and our partners.

In closing, our hearts go out to the victims of Boulder shooting 2 weeks ago. This tragedy hit very close to our hearts and our community and the healing will take years. My hopes are that we can learn something from this tragic event, love one another a bit more, and feel safe and supported at home and at work.

Stay well,

Jason Richardson
