The Face of Digestive Health

The Face of Digestive Health

Gastroenterology of the Rockies physicians are among the leading gastroenterologists in Colorado. With their educational background, advanced training and medical skills, they are equipped to provide excellent care in all areas of digestive health, including sub-specialties in liver disease, biliary disease, reflux, gastroenterology genetics, inflammatory bowel disease, and diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopies.

Having grown Gastroenterology of the Rockies from a one-physician, one-office practice in Boulder County in 1994, to 19 physicians, six Physician’s Assistants and 130 employees with eight clinics and five ambulatory surgical centers in Boulder County and the greater Denver-Metro Area today, Dr. Joel Montbriand attributes the successful growth to patient focused delivery of care by the highest caliber physicians. Gastroenterology of the Rockies’ mission is to deliver the highest quality, compassionate care to our patients in the manner that is most cost effective for them. “We put the patient first,” Dr. Montbriand states. “We utilize advanced technology to free physicians and nurses to focus more of their time and energy on patients and less on administrative tasks. We locate our facilities and design our processes to make patient access easy and comfortable.”

Our emphasis on patient focused, personal delivery of GI care has been recognized by several outside organizations. Dr. Montbriand and Gastroenterology of the Rockies have received the Boulder County Distinguished Service Award in 2010, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Healthcare and Life Sciences for the Rocky Mountain Region in 2006, and the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame Award in 2016.

The entire team at Gastroenterology of the Rockies is passionate about preventing, managing and treating colon cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer deaths. “Preventing colon cancer is the goal of our team, and a colonoscopy is widely recognized as the gold standard to not only detect, but actually prevent colon cancer,” Dr. Montbriand states. Gastroenterology of the Rockies performs over 24 thousand procedures every year, and almost 75% of those procedures are screening colonoscopies to prevent or diagnose colon cancer.. With its emphasis on delivery of the highest quality care to its patients, Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a part of the GI Quality Improvement Consortium (GIQuIC), a national registry that tracks colon cancer prevention quality indicators. The physicians at Gastroenterology of the Rockies consistently exceed the quality indicators in the national standards measured by GIQuIC.
